I am so excited to share to you that once again, Dawghouse Design Studio has been featured on Web Designer Magazine, Issue #152.

I was featured on Blog Beautiful – a section that showcased 50 blogs from all over the world to provide its readers a source of inspiration. I’m really very excited about this as not only was I featured alongside notable people in the Web Design industry such as Veerle Pieters of Duoh.com , Chris Spooner of Spoon Graphics, Larissa Meek and Vitaly Friedman of Smashing Magazine, but it was my very first time to have a photo of myself posted on a printed magazine! Boo Ya!!! (Well, my alma mater was featured on a local newspaper before which included a funny-looking candid shot of myself but I don’t think I should count that).

On the other hand, I know this is such a late post, but I would also like to share to you that I have also been featured on .NET Magazine (distributed as Practical Web Design in the United States and Asia) on the Gallery section of its 181st issue. This magazine is not being sold in my country so it took me a while to get a copy (and I would like to thank my friend Rachael of The Big Picture Design for being kind enough to take pictures of it and send them to me). When I got my hands on the magazine, I was really thrilled and I feel so honored to be featured alongside Adobe and Converse!

They say imitation is the highest form of flattery. Well, I was flattered at some point but not anymore. The photo above is a link to a website that is a blatant rip of Dawghouse Design Studio. This person loved my design so much and was so "insipired" that he copied EVERYTHING- from my images down to my Google Analytics code! He even tried to lamely imitate the my navigation style! I found it out because visits to this site showed up on my logs!

This thief’s name is Leonardo Andrade. I don’t know what he does but one thing I know for sure – he is a thief. A criminal who takes property belonging to someone else. Written on the footer (in Portuguese) of this copied site is “site criado na versão do Dawghouse Design Studio© editado por Leonardo andrade”. I translated it via Yahoo’s Babel Fish and it meant “site created in the version of the Dawghouse Design Studio© edited for Leonardo andrade”. What’s that supposed to mean? Like it’s okay to copy someone else’s work just as long as you acknowledge the person or site you copied it from?

It’s been a while since I’ve posted an entry, but here I am again! And I’m also here to happily announce that I was featured on Web Designer Magazine (Issue #149)! Copies of the magazine are available in the UK, Europe and Australia. How cool is that? :) Yea, I know – horrible photos – but I promise I’ll post better ones soon! :)

I have been trying to redesign my site for several months and I was never happy with all, yes all, of the studies I came up with. I felt like the future was gloomy for me. It was hopeless. Every time I created studies for projects, it only took me one, two or three days at most ’til I settled for a design I was happy and content with. But as they say, a web designer’s portfolio site is always the hardest to get approval. But thankfully, after 4 agonizing months of frustration and 16 scrapped studies, I finally came up with something that I liked… And it got me rolling from then on…
Unbelievably, I was able to launch my entire site in 2 days! And since I launched it, I’ve gotten a lot of really good feedback, which I never really expected – “Yo! Your site is wicked!”, “A truly unique site”, “Your site is amazing! I love your work!”, “I am inspired”, “Damn good Page!!”, “The Dawghouse is interesting. I’ll introduce it to all my friends” and several other very inspiring comments. I’ve also been featured on several design galleries. So from the bottom of my heart, a huuuge THANK YOU TO ALL YOU GUYS! I truly appreciate it :)

Overview: It took me a while to come up with this concept. One of those days that artists dread – when an artist experiences this so-called "creative block". I was browsing thru the web and came across a photo of a spray paint cannister and then I thought – why not create something like a graffitti? :)
